After many, many tries, I finally got a screen that works the way i want. This one is for iPhones (and perhaps all smartphones). The way you see this example on a computer screen is different than what you will see on the final version — this one is just a text to make sure it works OK on every one’s smartphones.
The footnote numbers are links that allow you to read footnotes as you go if you don’t want to wait till you get to the bottom of the page. Some folks would rather wait, some want to read them right away, and some don’t want to read them period.
Because they are links, I’ve enlarged the type-font and placed them in a pink square, to make them easier to touch with a finger if you want to read them. And, in order to make room for the big pink square, I’ve increased the line spacing in paragraphs that contain footnotes.
When I’m through, neither the pink squares not the enlarged footnote numbers will be seen by those viewing the page on a computer — but first I need to get the cellphone version working the way those users want.
More then 40% of our current visitors to our website arfe using cellphones and that number will probably grow to more than 50% before long.
So, if you have a cell phone I’d appreciate you visiting https://www.campbellluggblackwell.com/CCCV4p058MaryHughey_JamesMeyer_testb.html and letting me know how it worked for you. Thank you so much.
