Peg OWLETT Maines’ 100th Birthday Celebration

I’m glad Mary and I went yesterday. Party to “show the flag” because she has been a faithful attendee of the Campbell-Lugg-Blackwell Reunions. But also because she’s a friend (as well as my 3rd) cousin. BTW, she’s both a Campbell and a Lugg descendant.

The event was a big success, the Mainesburg, PA Community Center was filled. Food was plentiful and good. The attendees included neighbors, friends and relatives. We chatted with Peg in a receiving line. She was surprised (and glad) to see us. Thanks to COVID-19, it’s been 5 years since we’d last seen her. We met her daughter, Robin, and some of Robin’s children and their spouses. And spent most of our free time talking with Ron and Diane Owlett Pitts. And met some of their children and grandchildren.

Waze took us on some back roads with great vistas of the hills separating the streams that flow north into the Tioga and Chemung rivers from those that flow south into the West Branch of the Susquehanna. Some of the roads appear to have been dirt roads until fairly recently, but all were paved.

Parked by the door was a 1923 Ford, the same age as Peg. Both were in good condition.
